Chaheati Journey Blog: China Trip

What an amazing, wonderful experience! Kyle and I headed to our Trading Company in Shenzhen, China in early January. Our action items included product redesign and improvement, product development and to meet our team.

Our team escorted us all week and treated us like a King and Queen. We should have learned more Chinese. Only about 1% of the 14 million residents of Shenzhen speak English. We had quite the language barrier challenge. What saved us numerous times was my iPhone App, Worldnomads.com-WN Mandarin.

The people of Shenzhen are so kind, intelligent and welcoming. We always felt save and welcome. If you travel there, make sure you ask about their culture and listen to their stories. You will learn so much and show them so much respect. Also, you will want to brush up on their language and know more than the basics. In future journey blogs, I will speak of our experiences from no toilet bowls/seats like in the US to the food and beverages.

Our Party Tips For The Big Game

Super Bowl
If you can't be here, stay toasty at your Super Bowl party with Chaheati.
Football season is almost over. Only one more big game to go. Conference championships were pretty awesome and I’m hoping Super Bowl XLV is even better. You’re probably not planning to tailgate for the game, at least not outdoors where your trusty Chaheati is required equipment. And to those of you going to Dallas for the game, it’s going to be a chilly 45 degrees at kickoff – have you packed your Chaheati?

Whether you’re hosting a get together or heading to a friend’s, be sure you have all the ingredients for a FANtastic Super Bowl party – good friends, a whole lot of beer, great food and a really big TV (yes, size does matter). No matter which team you’re rooting for – Green Bay or Pittsburgh – you’ll be the party MVP with this super easy, spicy shrimp recipe. It’s great because the less time you spend in the kitchen, the more time you spend in front of the television cheering on your team (Go Packers! Go Steelers!), watching commercials and laughing with friends.

Here’s the recipe:

Chaheati “All-Season” Heated Shrimp

  • In a plastic bag with a zip closure, combine a pound of peeled shrimp with olive oil, chopped garlic and a pinch of salt.
  • Add a few shakes of Tobacco (the more you add, the spicier the shrimp). You can add some chili powder if you really want to bring some heat.
  • Marinate 20 minutes, thread onto skewers then grill or broil.

I gotta feeling (woohoo), this is going to be the best Super Bowl ever. Whatever you’re doing, have a great time. And don’t forget about our FREE SHIPPING special offer, good through Super Bowl Sunday – that’s February 6, 2011 @midnight.

Pay It Forward-Keep Someone Warm this Winter

It’s been a busy 2011 already for us here at Chaheati, and we hope everyone has had a great 2011 so far. We’ve had a pretty solid bout of winter weather hit us here in Illinois, forcing us to grab a blanket and a warm cup of hot chocolate. This got me thinking about the creature comforts of winter.

For centuries humans have found various ways to stay warm during the cold winter months. It wasn’t long ago that having shelter, a warm protective layer, and source of heat were most important to survival. Today we are more prone to taking these things for granted. We may find ourselves eyeing a new scarf even though we already have two, forgetting that there are some unfortunate people who don’t even have a roof over their head.

That’s why Chaheati is encouraging folks to warm up to giving. If you’re here, it’s probably because you’re interested in out heated chair. And trust me — our Chaheati will keep you warm for any indoor and outdoor activities you choose to participate in. After you pick up a chair, consider picking up those people who are less fortunate this winter. A donation of even a dollar is likely to help someone stay a little bit warmer this winter. So choose a charity that you can get behind and give a little to those who are most needy.

Happy New Year to everyone! May your 2011 bring you happiness and success in all that you do.

Enjoying the Great Outdoors with Chaheati

Here in Illinois there are a heap of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, and we’re thankful for that. We can fish Lake Michigan, hunt ducks along the Mississippi River, rock climb in southern Illinois, or camp in hundreds of places in the state. With such a wealth of things to do outdoors year round, it’s no surprise that people bring along the best gear. When we go, there’s always one item we always have to bring with us: a Chaheati heated chair.

Now we don’t want to mock the importance of other outdoor items like water containers, hiking boots, and a good pocket knife. They all have an important place in the outdoorsman’s gear collection. But we regard our Chaheati as the Swiss Army knife of camp chairs: we wouldn’t leave home without it.

So how does Chaheati make the great outdoors even greater? First, the rugged design of this chair will keep you out there longer than many other chair. We put a lot of thought into our design, drawing on the work of other extreme sports equipment manufacturers. We wanted to make sure that the materials we used would guarantee a lifetime of comfort outdoors.

The metal tubing used in the chair is designed to be weight-tolerant, allowing for bodies of any size to comfortably use the Chaheati. Next, our heating design ensures that when you need warmth from your chair, you’ll get it quickly and efficiently. Simply plug in the battery and select from four convenient temperature settings. We also know that a camping chair is frequently used around water and fire. That’s why we chose a fire and water-resistant fabric for the Chaheati to ensure safety and comfort no matter the season.

As for the battery, it keeps you warm in your Chaheati for up to six hours. It’s easy to recharge your battery pack afterwards, and it can even be charged from a vehicle’s cigarette lighter. For extra mileage, outdoor fans can have a second battery pack waiting in the wings.

So if you’re considering going ice fishing in winter or camping in the summer, Chaheati makes the perfect all-season camping chair. Its rugged yet comfortable design will have you sitting in it again and again, no matter if it’s in the mountains or your own back yard. We certainly do!

What Does Chaheati Do Exactly?

Can Chaheati save a kitten from a tree? Can it cure cancer? Will it tuck your kids in at night? With all the attention that Chaheati has been getting lately, we thought it was time to clarify what the Chaheati heated camp chair can and can’t do. Our most fanatical customers might claim that the chair can stop world hunger, but we have to draw the line somewhere. In this blog post, we dispel the myths surrounding our heated camp chair.

1. Chaheati DOESN’T…defuse a heated argument with the referee at your child’s winter football game.
Chaheati DOES help you keep your mind off the cold so you can keep your cool with the referee. With four different temperature settings, you’ll surely find just the right amount of heat you need.

2. Chaheati DOESN’T… wash, rinse, perm, color, and blow dry your hair.
Chaheati DOES… keep your bottom and back warm and dry in all but rainy weather. The woven heating elements provide unobtrusive, uniform heat distribution within the water-resistant fabric of the chair.

3. Chaheati DOESN’T… effortlessly chop down trees like a rugged lumberjack.
Chaheati DOES… have an extremely rugged design. Most every potential use for the chair was imagined, and most uses require a structure that is durable. This baby is made to last.

4. Chaheati DOESN’T… keep you charged and energized even though you got only 30 minutes of sleep last night.
Chaheati DOES… provide up to six hours of heating with its specially designed rechargeable battery. Simply charge it up and go. Now that’s something you won’t lose sleep about!

5. Chaheati DOESN’T… double as an all-season replacement tire for your vehicle.
Chaheati DOES… make the perfect all-season camp chair. Use it without the battery during the summer for your float or camping trip. Plug in the battery for your late-season tailgate party.

6. Chaheati DOESN’T… require a degree from MIT to use it.
Chaheati DOES… require a certain degree of appreciation for its ease of use. Simply connect the battery pack and choose a temperature. In less than 20 seconds you’ll be sitting in heated comfort.

As you can see, the Chaheati heated camp chair won’t solve all the world’s problems, but it will solve a few of them. If you’re looking for a sturdy, comfortable, easy-to-use heated camp chair, look no farther than to Chaheati.

The Tech Behind the Chaheati

We’ve received a few questions about the technology we’ve used in the Chaheati heated chair and the rechargeable battery pack. While a lot of the tech behind it is patent-pending, we wanted to address the questions as best we could without giving away too much information or making it overly technical.

When we went through the long process of designing the Chaheati, much of our inspiration was drawn from the companies manufacturing some of the best high-end extreme sports equipment. We chose these types of companies for inspiration because of our vision of creating a comfortable yet durable all-season heated camp chair. Those same manufacturers know that weather extremes put outdoor gear to the test just as much as a user’s wear and tear on it. Cold and heat cause expansion and contraction of materials, while water and fire can corrode or damage in different ways. Not only do the structural components of a chair need to stand up to these weather elements; electronics do as well.

The tubing used for the chair structure is 19-gauge, which is preferred for more rigorous outdoor use. The fabric we decided to use is meant to protect the ultra-thin heating elements embedded in it from adverse conditions and to also stand up to physical abuse. The “600D” we reference in the features of the Chaheati fabric is simply a measure of the durability of the fabric. A 600D polyester fabric is tougher than a 420D fabric. This fabric — combined with the 19-guage tubing — can hold some serious weight! We’ve rated the chair to safely seat up to 280 pounds.

The battery and heating element represent the other side of the Chaheati’s tech. When thinking about ways to heat the chair, we didn’t want a bulky heating coil or some other obtrusive design. Comfort was just as much a priority as functionality during its design. We decided to go with a unique ultra-thin carbon fiber (non-wire) based heating system. The fabric is strong but flexible to accommodate the wide variety of body types it encounters, and is of low-voltage design to maximize their longevity.

The rechargeable lithium-ion battery we chose had to provide long-term heat and to have a rapid recharge rate. With a constant stream of research and investment into lithium-ion technology, it made perfect sense to adopt it for Chaheati. We also wanted it to be extremely safe so we incorporated a digital circuit breaker into the battery unit. The battery is integrated into the small hand-held temperature controller, which features four convenient temperature settings.

All of this tech combines to make the Chaheati heated camp chair what it is: a durable, all-season camp chair made to withstand a variety of climates and conditions. It keeps you warm on those cold outdoor evenings and comfortable all year round. We’re proud of the design, and we hope you will be too.

Finding the Right Tailgating Supplies

We’ve been doing a fair share of tailgating lately, talking football and spreading the word about the Chaheati heated camp chair. As we’ve moved from one event to the next, we’ve noticed that some people take their tailgating seriously. We’ve seen everything from Rams-branded barbecue utensils to beer belts that hold six cans. “Wow!” we think. “Where do people find this stuff?” There’s obviously a market for tailgating accessories, so we started looking around at who’s supplying.

Our first stop is TailgatingFanatic.com, a company based in Georgia. The folks at Tailgating Fanatic have been working tirelessly to bring the best tailgating experience to folks for years, understanding that tailgating is a lifestyle for many people. The company even encourages its customers to send in photos of their tailgating events to both gain a better understanding of what tailgaters use and to “maintain a personable relationship” with their customers.

Their site is relatively easy to use, though how the shopping cart functions seems a bit strange. When you add an item to your cart, a PayPal page is automatically opened. You do have the option to choose to continue shopping, which automatically closes the window. There’s also an issue with their FAQ not loading properly on the site. However, the selection is rather impressive as it’s not limited to only branded items. For example, a search for St. Louis Cardinals gear yields the predictable branded glasses and banners. But that same search also yields a wide variety of portable grills, lights, and collapsible tables — all things that are quite useful at a tailgate event.

FansEdge.com is another popular destination for folks looking for licensed sports products. These folks have been around for over ten years, with stores in many parts of the U.S. The company appears to have a strong focus on service at its core, providing a wide variety of goods for sports fans. They have a “Tailgating, Outdoors & Automotive” section for numerous professional sports, including non-team sports like golf, boxing, and tennis. A search of St. Louis Blues tailgating gear included flags, banners, koozies, and mats. We were slightly disappointed that they didn’t have as impressive a selection as Tailgating Fanatic, but FansEdge still offers a lot of options.

Finally, we can’t forget about another great tailgating item: the Chaheati heated camp chair. The fall and winter sports of football, hockey, and soccer all bring tailgaters outdoors despite cold temperatures. Wouldn’t it be nice to celebrate your team from the comfort of a heated chair? Our comfortable and durable Chaheati chair is easy to operate: simply plug in the slim battery pack and select a temperature. Within 20 seconds you’ll have a warm chair to kick back and talk sports in. Take a look at the features of our chair and discover how it makes the perfect tailgating accessory!
