College Tailgate Care Packages: A memorable send-off gift for your new freshman!

Although it’s still 90 degrees here in the midwest, recent high school grads are scouring the stores for dorm room necessities and making moving plans. It’s hard to believe, but most college students will be heading to school in only a few weeks! Maybe you have a stack of announcements and have been wanting to send the perfect going-away gifts, or your son/daughter/niece/nephew/grandchild is a new college freshman and you want to send them off in style.

There are oodles of ‘what to pack for college’ lists out there, but while a shower caddy is certainly a practical gift, you can really make their college sendoff care package memorable by combining a few essentials for that most important of college rituals…the tailgate.

Game Day Face Paint allows your game-day warrior to show his or her true colors. You can also head over to Fanatics for temporary tattoos and nail art to show your team the love.

Etsy has some fantastic collegiate jewelry options so your student can ‘sport’ a little bling at the game (sorry, it was too good to pass up).

A wheeled cooler really comes in handy for those long walks from the dorm to the stadium. Options for team colors or logos abound.

What’s a tailgate without brats and burgers? Weber’s line of Go Anywhere grills are compact enough for easy storage and setup is a breeze.

In most of North America, football weather means hoodies, hats, and a cold posterior. Make your favorite fan the envy of the tailgate with our favorite (naturally) cold-weather camp chair. Chaheati heated camp chairs not only warm your buns (not the bratwurst kind), but they’re super comfy to sit in. Rocking a stadium seat? Our heated add-on lets you boldly sit wherever the game takes you. Your collegiate sports fan will get a warm, fuzzy feeling at every pregame event.

As for food and beverages, those are harder to pack into a goody basket, but if you’re visiting, be sure to check out our tips for a weather-defying tailgate party, including food and drink ideas to take your ‘gate to the next level.

We hope our college gift giving guide helps you find the perfect going away gift for your college-bound kid. And with winter  just around the corner, you’ve got a head start on your holiday shopping list!

What are your favorite gifts for college-bound freshmen (or upperclassmen)? Share your best ideas in the comments!

Chaheati on the Move

Oof! We sure have been busy lately. Where to begin? Well, back in October we were working on the logistics involved with getting our Chaheati heated camp chair manufactured and shipped to us in time for our November opening of public orders for the chair. And guess what? We made it! On November 5, we began processing and shipping our first public orders for the chair.

It’s been a long road to get to that point, let me tell you. That has included a pretty intense sales and marketing campaign. Part of that campaign has included getting listed in the November and December issue of St. Louis Sports Magazine. And of course we’ve been utilizing social networking to get the Chaheati name out there. We’ve been utilizing our Facebook and Twitter accounts on a fairly regular basis to get the word out.

Leading up to the November opening we were busy in many other ways. On October 27, we were delighted to have Fox 2 News in the Morning spend some time with us talking about Chaheati. It was a lot of fun talking to John Pertzborn and Tim Ezell about the heated camp chair:

We’ve also made progress on our website, working to update the feel and content. We worked to get our store and cart system added and added more specific information about the Chaheati and terms of use for the site. It’s amazing how the site has been shaping up since we first started.

Finally, we’ve been attending numerous tailgating events, having fun and talking Chaheati. We tailgated at the Mizzou and Kansas State game on November 13 and have been tailgating all of the Rams’ home games. We’ve met a lot of great people during these events, and we’ve reaffirmed that there is a need for a durable, waterproof heated camp chair. We’ll be at the corner of Cole St. and Broadway in St. Louis on November 21, December 19, and December 26, tailgating the remainder of the Rams’ home games. Stop by and talk football and Chaheati with us!

Finding the Right Tailgating Supplies

We’ve been doing a fair share of tailgating lately, talking football and spreading the word about the Chaheati heated camp chair. As we’ve moved from one event to the next, we’ve noticed that some people take their tailgating seriously. We’ve seen everything from Rams-branded barbecue utensils to beer belts that hold six cans. “Wow!” we think. “Where do people find this stuff?” There’s obviously a market for tailgating accessories, so we started looking around at who’s supplying.

Our first stop is TailgatingFanatic.com, a company based in Georgia. The folks at Tailgating Fanatic have been working tirelessly to bring the best tailgating experience to folks for years, understanding that tailgating is a lifestyle for many people. The company even encourages its customers to send in photos of their tailgating events to both gain a better understanding of what tailgaters use and to “maintain a personable relationship” with their customers.

Their site is relatively easy to use, though how the shopping cart functions seems a bit strange. When you add an item to your cart, a PayPal page is automatically opened. You do have the option to choose to continue shopping, which automatically closes the window. There’s also an issue with their FAQ not loading properly on the site. However, the selection is rather impressive as it’s not limited to only branded items. For example, a search for St. Louis Cardinals gear yields the predictable branded glasses and banners. But that same search also yields a wide variety of portable grills, lights, and collapsible tables — all things that are quite useful at a tailgate event.

FansEdge.com is another popular destination for folks looking for licensed sports products. These folks have been around for over ten years, with stores in many parts of the U.S. The company appears to have a strong focus on service at its core, providing a wide variety of goods for sports fans. They have a “Tailgating, Outdoors & Automotive” section for numerous professional sports, including non-team sports like golf, boxing, and tennis. A search of St. Louis Blues tailgating gear included flags, banners, koozies, and mats. We were slightly disappointed that they didn’t have as impressive a selection as Tailgating Fanatic, but FansEdge still offers a lot of options.

Finally, we can’t forget about another great tailgating item: the Chaheati heated camp chair. The fall and winter sports of football, hockey, and soccer all bring tailgaters outdoors despite cold temperatures. Wouldn’t it be nice to celebrate your team from the comfort of a heated chair? Our comfortable and durable Chaheati chair is easy to operate: simply plug in the slim battery pack and select a temperature. Within 20 seconds you’ll have a warm chair to kick back and talk sports in. Take a look at the features of our chair and discover how it makes the perfect tailgating accessory!

Chaheati Tailgates in Style

The art of the tailgate party has shifted over the years, but the idea remains the same: to kick back and have some fun before or during a sporting event. And while the tailgate of a vehicle remains a fine place to set your beverage or your bum, there are probably better options for sitting. With fall exiting out and winter poking its nose in, those tailgates get a little colder. Breaking out your Chaheati heated camp chair sounds like the perfect idea!

We’ve been taking Chaheati to the Coors Light Rams pre-game tailgates here in St. Louis the entire fall. Warm days and cold, we’ve been having a lot of fun talking food, football, and Chaheati with fellow tailgaters. When asked about our chair, we always tell folks that the idea for the chair came about on a cold winter day, much like the ones that occur during late-season football. We had the realization that sitting outside in the cold discussing whether the passing game is better than the running game doesn’t have to be an uncomfortable experience. The Chaheati was born from this concept. It doesn’t matter if it’s a winter tailgate party or a summer camping trip: a durable, waterproof camp chair is great to have any time of year. And when it gets cold, simply turn up the heat!

Folks at the tailgates have really warmed up to the idea of a heated camp chair. (Pun intended!) Many tell us that they like the convenience of having four different temperature settings on the Chaheati. And since the heating is woven into the fabric, tailgaters seem to rarely notice that there’s something special about it… until they sit down. Then their eyes light up with surprise.
Want to be surprised too? You can find us at the corner of Cole St. and Broadway in St. Louis on November 21, December 19, and December 26. We’ll be there about three hours before the Rams play, debating the playbook and staying warm with Chaheati. Stop by and we’ll tell you more about our durable and versatile heated camp chair, great for all occasions. Go Rams!
